When writing articles online, you may always be distracted to do other things, such as checking new emails, checking your income, or chatting with you. I recommend that you disconnect the network and use an offline blog editor instead of the editor provided by your blog platform to write a better article.

Many blogger have never used the offline blog editor, and they have not realized how much valuable time they have wasted to wait for their blog platform to load the editor. The desktop blog tool can be quickly written and previewed, save and publish an article.

There are many desktop blog editors available, such as Windows Live writer (wlw), ecto, W. bloggar and qumana. As a Windows enthusiast, I am using Microsoft's Windows Live writer. The following is why I like it.

Why do I like Windows Live writer?
  1. Write offline articles:
Even if there is a network connection problem, I can use Windows Live writer to write an article and save it as a draft. I can release it when there is a network connection.
  2. FTP software is not required:
In the past, I had to use smartftp to insert images into my article, and then wait for the image to be uploaded, go to the WordPress "write an article" page, and insert an image. When using wlw, I only need to copy and paste the image into the article. When publishing the article, wlw will automatically upload the image.
  3. Write Multiple blogs in the same place:
Wlw supports many blog platforms, such as WordPress, blogger, and typepad. You can write articles from the same place. Even if you have multiple blog platforms, you do not need to log on to them all.
  4. Supported plug-ins:
Wlw allows you to install plug-ins to Expand functions. For example, a plug-in called flickr4writer can be used
Search for and insert images. If this plug-in has an option, you can search for photos with a CC license that can be commercially used and modified. That's even better.
  5. Webpage Layout View Mode:
Wlw has a cool web page layout view mode, which allows you to view the document at the time of writing, just like reading on a blog. Wlw can also update the blog style when you want it again. This is very useful if you re-design your blog. This is one of my favorite wlw features.
  6. Save the draft to the log:
Wlw also allows me to save the draft to my log, and even I can edit it again.
  7. Automatic link
    :
I do not need to enter frequently used connection sites again and again. wlw provides a function called automatic link (Tool> Option> automatic link) that allows me to save these links (URLs, text and title ). Right-click a link and select 'add auto-linked table' to add it to the auto-linked table.

  8. Image effects:
The wlw allows you to set shadow or photo-paper effects for my images, as well as black and white tones, brown tones, color temperature adjustments, light colors, sharpening, Gaussian blur, and relief effects. You can even use wlw to add watermarks to images.

  9. Image operations:
With wlw, I can rotate an image or mediate the brightness and contrast. In my article, the logo of the wlw is so rotated. I used to use Photoshop and wait for PS to load slowly.
  10. Automatically save the draft:
Like the WordPress Editor, wlw can automatically save the article as a draft, and you can change how often it is saved. However, remember that this function is not automatically activated by default. You need to go to tools> Options> edit and select 'automatically save drafts 'to activate it.
  11. Insert table:
I don't know much about other blog platforms, but I didn't find any options for table insertion in the WordPress editor. I had to insert tables manually when necessary. Wlw can easily insert tables.
  12. Less time spent:
I do not need to log on to my WordPress management backend and wait for the 'Article write' to load or save or preview the article. With wlw, I just need to click the button to instantly save and preview the article, and there is no need to waste time logging in.

The shadow effect is added using wlw in the above section.

Wlw can do most of the things that your blog platform cannot do, except for one thing that I hope can be searched for my previous articles. It is useful when I want to link to them. Wlw can display 500 previous articles, but a search option will make this easier.

Other desktop blog editors can also use wlw. Although I cannot guarantee it, I have not tried other tools except wlw.
