28.2.4 Install Oracle 11g

Oracle 11g provides a graphical installation interface that allows users to complete the installation process by moving and clicking the mouse. The specific installation steps are shown below.

(1) Extract the Oracle 11g installation package file.

Unzip Linux_11gr1_database_1013.zip

The file will be uncompressed into the linux_11gr1_database_1013 directory, as shown below.

# ls

(2) switch to an Oracle user, enter the "linux_11gr1_database_1013/database/" directory, and perform Runinstaller to launch the Oracle installer.

$./runinstaller

(3) After the command is executed, the Oracle Database 11g installation-Select the Products to Install dialog box will pop up. In the dialog box, deselect the Create Startup database check box, and the other options take the default values. Click the Next button, as shown in Figure 28.2. The descriptions of the options in the interface are shown below.

Q Oracle Base location: Basic directory for Oracle products.

Q Oracle Home directory location: installation directory for Oracle programs.

Q Installation Type: The type of installation available for selection includes Enterprise Edition, Standard Edition, and Standard Edition (single processor).

Q UNIX DBA Group: Database Administrators group.

Q Create a Startup database: Create an Oracle database while installing an Oracle program (since the database created here is a standard template, you choose not to create an Oracle database and then manually create it later).

Q Global Database name: Specifies the name of the database to create.

Q Database Password: password for database user sys, system, and Sysman.

(4) After the system enters the interface shown in Figure 28.3, the user waits for the window to be completed.

(5) After initialization, Setup will automatically jump to the "Specify Product listings directory and Identity Certificate" dialog box. In this dialog box, you can set the full path of the product manifest directory and the name of the operating system group, as shown in Figure 28.4.

Users can also click the Installed Products button to open the dialog shown in Figure 28.5 to view the list of Oracle products that are already installed in the system.

In this example, use the default option value and click Next to go to the product-specific prerequisite Check dialog box.

(6) In this dialog box, Oracle automatically checks to see if the system meets the minimum requirements for installing and configuring the selected Oracle product, as shown in Figure 28.6. Click the Next button when the check is complete.

If an indicator does not meet the installation and configuration requirements, a warning is displayed in the Status column, and the check item is selected to view the specific inspection results. As shown in Figure 28.7, the system's physical memory is only 500MB, and the installation requirements are 922MB, unable to meet the requirements.

When you check that the item is not passed, click the Next button and the warning dialog box appears as shown in Figure 28.8.

If you want to force an installation, click Yes to continue the installation.

(7) in the subsequent Oracle Configuration Manager Registration dialog box, the configuration information can be associated with the Metalink account, as shown in Figure 28.9. When the configuration is complete, click the Next button to enter the Overview dialog box.

(8) A summary of this installation is displayed in this dialog box, including the source of the installation files, the installation directory, the language of the installation, the space requirements, and the installed components, as shown in Figure 28.10. Once the confirmation is correct, click the Finish button to begin the installation.

(9) The current installation progress is displayed in the Setup dialog box that you enter later, as shown in Figure 28.11. If you want to abort the installation, click the Stop Installation button.

Log information in the installation process is recorded by default in the/u01/app/orainventory/logs/installactions< date time >.log file. The following is an interception of the contents of the log file.
