Before we learned about creating a forest in AD (Active Directory), domain tree and subdomain methods, in a domain, in order to improve fault tolerance and high availability, we recommend that you have more than one DC in a domain, and each DC maintains the same Active Directory database in the domain. And these DCs are equivalent, Then there are some problems: in order to ensure the consistency of the Active Directory database, replication operations are required, the general replication is multihomed replication (multiple DC equality), but some changes are not suitable for multiple-host replication execution, so there is a need for a DC called the operations master to accept requests for such changes.
First we will understand what is "operations master", "operations master" includes what?
There are 5 operations master roles in each forest (these operations master roles can be assigned to one or more DCs)
The following two species are included in the forest range:
1) Schema Master
2) domain naming master
These roles must be unique in each forest!
Include the following in domain scope:
1 primary domain controller emulation host (PDC emulator)
2 relative ID (RID) host
3 Infrastructure Master
The above three types must be unique in each domain!
1. Infrastructure master (schema master)
Schema master controls all updates to the entire forest's schema
There can be only one schema master in the entire forest
How to manage the schema master (no tools are installed by default for administrative schemas):
1 Register the Schema management tool regsvr32 schmmgmt.dll
2 Add "Active directory Schema" using MMC
3 View the schema master
