What is Flocker?

Flocker provides an open source container data volume management system.
Flocker provides a tool for data migration to address the containerized challenges of stateful services. This is especially true for containers such as databases.

Typically, a container's data volumes are bound to a single server, Flocker data volumes, and can be migrated with containers. Flocker facilitates the implementation of stateful micro-services.

Flocker's overall architecture

Flocker is mainly divided into two parts control and Agent,control external API, and Agent communication, complete the following functions:

• Deploy multi-container applications across nodes
• migrating containers with volumes between nodes
• When the container changes host, it is attached to the reel/dismount
• Migrating local data volumes between servers

The principle of Flocker

Flocker control manages where the volume is located and modifies it as needed.
The Flocker agent modifies the local state according to the control's settings. Mount/Unload the volume.
