Subsequently, with the continuous development and popularization of computer network, more and more computers use the domain name, but the powerful hosts file can no longer meet the needs of the modern network, DNS (domain Name System, domain name systems) has emerged.
DNS relative to the hosts file, a powerful improvement, mainly in a tiered structure for deployment, including: root domain, top-level domain (including organization domain, country domain or area, reverse domain), level two domain and host name. The hierarchy of the domain name space resembles an inverted tree, where the root is the highest level, the bough at the next level, and the leaves at the lowest level. In this way, the huge amount of information can be divided into many smaller parts according to the hierarchy structure, and each part is stored on different computers to form the characteristics of hierarchy and distribution.
