About Data Standardization

I have never studied statistics, and I am not very clear about basic things. I searched the internet and there are two common standardized computing methods:

Normal standardization: {Xi-E (x)}/var (x), that is, the difference between the average value of data and data series divided by the standard deviation of data series. The result is positive and negative, but the absolute value is not large.

Range standardization: {Xi-xmin}/{xmax-xmin}, that is, the difference between the minimum value of data and series divided by the range of data series. The result is (0, 1 ).
