Access using two routers to share the Internet

Question: I use an ADSL Internet, existing two routers, there are 1-way WAN and 4-way LAN port, but there are 5 computers to share the Internet, that is, the first route out after a line into the second route after another point two, to find the route wiring and settings.

Answer: This is a more common situation, first of all, to explain the principle:

Router 1, like this two routing connection method, provides a three-tier service (physical, data-link, and network layer), while Router 1 is a hub. The Router 2 provides a four-tier service, which is the role of the switch.

Router 2 can be viewed as a hub, which means that 5 of the computers in the room actually belong to the jurisdiction of Router 1. Then the fixed IP address that is allocated from Route 1 cannot be reassigned to the same router that is used only as a switch.

Workaround:

Method One: Start the DHCP service of Router 1, then your room will get the LAN IP address assigned to you by Router 1, note that your Router 2 is only acting as a switch in this way (you can change the switch effect as well) [recommended method]

Method Two: The IP address of Router 1 is divided into two subnet segments (by setting the subnet mask), your route 2 belongs to Route 1 's subnet, Router 2 provides the routing function, and the DNS server recommends the use of some large companies (it is not recommended to use routing as a DNS server).

Connection method: Two router connections

Route 1th is used to dial a number, from the 1th Route LAN Port pull a line to Route 2nd, inserted in the 2nd Route LAN port, do not plug in Ethernet port, the host network segment and 1th route the same network segment, Gateway is Route 1th IP. Route 2nd no matter what it is, Route 2nd is equivalent to a switch.

Summary

1, in fact, broadband routers do not use a WAN is a switch, you can directly use the switch cascade.

2, before the second router into the network, modify its default LAN port IP address to prevent and the first LAN port IP address conflict.

3. Connect a LAN of the second router to the LAN port of the first router, and connect the original computer and the new computer to the remaining LAN ports on the second router using a direct connection.
