When multiple computers share the Internet access through ADSL, it is difficult for each computer to manually control the connection between the server and the network, however, follow the steps described below to automatically connect the server to the network.

1. automatic dialing

When multiple computers share the Internet access through ADSL, it is difficult for each computer to manually control the connection between the server and the network, however, follow the steps described below to automatically connect the server to the network:

1. Run the "run" command in the Start menu of the Windows XP operating system, enter regedit, and open the registry editing window.

2. go to the "HKEY_Current_User \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ InternetSettings" branch of the Registry, and in the window on the right of InternetSettings, set the "EnableAutodial" key value to "01000000". If you want to disable this function, set the key value to "00000000 "). After the settings are complete, restart the computer to enable automatic dialing.

2. view the connection status

If you want to know the connection time of the Current ADSL Broadband Network or query the connection status, follow these steps:

1. Click Start> Settings> control panel in the taskbar to open the dial-up network window. In this window, you can see that an available connection is established under "LAN or Internet connection". The default name of this available connection is "Local Connection ".

2. double-click the icon or run the "status" command from the shortcut menu, in the window that will be opened later, you can see whether ADSL is connected to the Internet, the time and speed of the current continuous Internet access, and other information.

3. automatically disconnect the network

To save network costs, we hope the server can automatically disconnect the network when there is no network access request. The following method can be used to automatically disconnect a computer when it is not connected for a specified time:

1. Open the "ADSL Network Connection" window, click a connection currently in use, right-click the connection name, open the property settings window, and select the "option" tab.

2. On this tab page, you can set "idle time before hanging up" to specify the idle time for the server to disconnect from the network. After the configuration is complete, click "OK" to exit the settings page to make the settings take effect.

Iv. allow file transfer via QQ

If you use QQ to transfer files in Windows XP, the system will prompt you that the file cannot be transmitted correctly. This is mainly because the ADSL virtual dial-up connection has enabled the built-in network firewall, you can disable the Enabled Network Firewall and use QQ to transfer files.

Open the property page of the dial-up connection, and click the "advanced" tab, on the tab page, select the "Protect my computer and network by limiting or blocking access to this computer from the Internet" option and click "OK" to exit the settings page.

5. Temporarily disconnect the network

Sometimes we may need to temporarily disconnect the network, but the network connection icon in the lower right corner of the screen cannot find the command corresponding to "Disconnect". In fact, you can use the following method to disconnect:

1. Right-click the "Network Connection" icon and execute the "Disable" command from the shortcut menu that will be opened later.

2. to reconnect to the network, click the "enable" command. When network connection is disabled and re-enabled, the system may return a message indicating a failed connection. You can run the "Repair" command in the shortcut menu to restore the network connection correctly.
