After OracleLinux6 is restarted, the content of the/etc/hosts file is changed.

Applicable:

Linux OS-Version Oracle Linux 6.1 and later
Linux x86
Linux x86-64

Symptoms:
After Oracle Linux6 is restarted, Network Manager edits the/etc/hosts file.
For example, the normal/etc/hosts file is as follows:

$ More/etc/hosts127.0.0.1 localhost. localdomain localhost

After the OS is restarted, the modified/etc/hosts file is as follows:

[[Email protected] ~] # More/etc/hosts127.0.0.1 hostname localhost. localdomain localhost: 1 houvoapp1 localhost6.localdomain6 localhost6

Cause:
This is a known issue.
Bug 668830-NetworkManager adds hostname to/etc/hosts pointing to localhost
The problem is resolved in the NetworkManager-0.8.1-9.el6.x86_64.rpm.

Solution:
Upgrade NetworkManager to version 0.8.1-9 or later.
