System Environment:
The system is xp and ubuntu linux. Xp is installed in the second partition of the system. The first partition is dell's system diagnostic tool. Linux is installed in the sixth partition and the second active partition.
During installation, xp is not found in the System Startup menu because of the screen display and unknown operations. Some tasks still need to be completed in xp, and xp needs to be restarted.
I have edited the grub Startup menu a long time ago. It is under fc. However, all the previously accumulated things have been worn out by time.
Check menu. lst. see an example in it.
# Title Windows 95/98/NT/2000
# Root (hd0, 0)
# Makeactive
# Chainloader + 1
#
# Title Linux
# Root (hd0, 1)
# Kernel/vmlinuz root =/dev/hda2 ro
I forgot how to view the partition. I vaguely remember that the partition of xp seems to be hd0, 2
Try to add it. reboot cannot start this xp instance. If you forget what is displayed, it cannot be started. Because I don't know what's going on, I checked it online and found someone wrote it like this.
Title Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Root (hd0 ,*)
Savedefault
Makeactive
Chainloader + 1
The row savedefault is more than the default one.
# Sudo gedit/boot/grub/menu. lst
I added the above line according to the gourd plot and changed the root line to hd0, 1) the startup was successful.
