Design | Web page design Before you start designing an Internet site, the first thing you need to think about is your target visitor. The website of a legal consulting firm is different from the target viewer of a music website, and the corresponding design requirements will certainly vary. Here, we are mainly dedicated to the design of a "general" internet site, although some of the rules mentioned in the following article may not be fully applicable to your project.

Basic question: We often say that first impressions are very important. Therefore, the homepage of your Internet site must contain all the services provided by your company or site. You can use a short descriptive title to indicate what the site's theme is, or you can add your company's logo, but don't let the information and pictures fill your home page (as other pages on the site must); The home page must look clean and organized. To use fonts that are easy to read. Below the homepage, provide contact information for your company, such as your e-mail address or phone number, which will make it easy for visitors to contact you. In addition, the home page is usually a great place to place replacement information or news.

Before you start designing, you must carefully select a color mix for your site. Do not have a purple background plus the combination of black and blue text. To keep the entire site in the same color combination, because different color combinations of backgrounds or fonts can be very annoying. You can also use a background image instead of just one color. Background patterns can be drawn by themselves or downloaded from the Internet. By blurring the background pattern, you can make text easier to read.

When adding text, try to set fonts and sizes that are easy to read. If you use a background image, then, when the page is browsed, the background color and font will be downloaded first, so if there is no contrast between the background color and the text color, then the viewer will have a few seconds to see the text. A simple way to solve this problem is to make the background color similar to the color of the background image.
Make your Page "length" shorter, so that information/animation can be performed through several pages. If you put a lot of stuff on a Web page, it makes your Web page look messy, making the viewer less willing to read all the content. So, to design a few pages, each page put a paragraph or two paragraphs of text, a button below the paragraph, link to the next page, on the last page, put a button, link to the previous page, the homepage. Use templates as much as possible to reduce the workload and complexity of your design.

If you are ready to insert a Flash movie for your site's homepage, it is best to leave it with the home page. Be sure to add a "skip" button so that those who are unwilling to wait for the download or have seen the movie can easily go directly to your homepage. Using cookies, you can make the person who has browsed your site automatically jump to the homepage.

Browse Navigation: The browsing navigation of the site must be designed to be very easy to use. If necessary, split the site into several sections. The easiest way to do this is to place a menu bar on the left side of all pages in the entire site. There are, of course, many alternatives. For sites with a lot of information, it's a good choice to use an extensible menu bar. No matter what navigation mode you use, it is a good idea to place a link to the homepage on each page-this will allow the viewer to get lost and return to the original position with a simple click.

Pictures and Multimedia: Pictures, movies and sound effects are always fascinating, but not too much. Remember, a lot of people are still surfing through the "kitten". Try to make each page less than 100Kb. Try to compress your GIF and JPEG images and add them to the Web page. If you're going to place high-quality pictures, music, or animations in your site, you'd better design two versions, one for high quality and the other for low quality, so that different browsers have a choice of their own.

Flash is a very popular program, and many web designers are happy to add it to their website. The advantage of flash is that you can make your animations and music files very small. To watch flash movies, you have to have a plugin that can be downloaded from the Macromedia Company's website. Although more than 80% of Internet users may already have the plugin and have a lot of new versions of Internet Explorer and Netscape, it's still a problem you have to consider. Try not to add Flash animations to your Web pages unless you really need them, because some viewers don't have the patience to wait for a movie to download, or even have the patience to download a plugin. Pure HTML design, for most (commercial) sites, is still the best choice.

Music and sound can add a lot of excitement to your site, but never use it too much. Each click beeps can make your site annoying and leave your site with a professional impression. If you're going to add some background music to your site, it's best to use some streaming audio software such as Real audio to play the file. Alternatively, you can insert a flash file to loop through a piece of music. You can do this by importing a WAV file into a flash file, or you can download some free related software to the Internet. If you want to use a sound in your Flash movie, it's usually better to add a "weak" button, and if you use a behavioral script to control the sound on the browser's computer, add a volume control bar. Of course, never change the sound is the best. The viewer can adjust the volume of his computer if needed.

The "framework" question: framework-you might like it, maybe not. If you use frames on your site, you are likely to make one frame for navigation purposes and the other to place the content. You can see that there are two separate browsing windows on the same page, and you click on the left frame to change the content on the right. It is obviously very easy to organize the content of the website with the framework. However, I am not in favor of using the framework. When you bookmark a site, the framework becomes cumbersome because a single page of the site cannot be bookmarked, and the viewer can also encounter problems when printing. Of course, the attitude of different browsers to the framework is not the same.

Another thing to be aware of:

Keep your company's logo consistent across the site.
Avoid using scrolling text in your site or browsing window, because scrolling text reduces the accessibility of your Web pages.
Check the text of your site and ask someone else to help you test it. Ask a lot of your friends and family, including the views of different viewers of your site.
Always check the links in your Web pages to make sure they are not disconnected, especially after you have updated the content of your Web site.
Check to see if your site is compatible with all popular browsers.
If you have a commercial website and are prepared to sell products or services directly above, it should be necessary to purchase security services to ensure that credit card transactions are secured.
Submit your site information to a search engine, check your site's ranking in categories, and if so, consider replacing your meta tags.
Many people are still using a 14-inch or 15-inch display, so try to make your pages "free to scroll" (at least horizontally).
Do not accumulate a lot of advertising in a significant position, the two ads should be basically the upper limit of the bar.
Do not place the browse counter on your site. Counter will make your site look not professional, if not enough, it will also play the opposite propaganda role.

Finally, the content is gold. Make sure you give your viewers something of value that will entice them to visit your site often. Add a message board and chat room to your site to improve interactivity, make it more interactive for you and your visitors, and let your visitors communicate with each other.
