1. Create or acquire a layer that already exists

2. Create a Map object that represents the selected point

3. Add a Map object to a layer

Create a new layer

Create a layer using the following code snippet

int Coffee_shops_layer = 1= Mapwidget.createlayer (Coffee_shops_layer);

Get a layer that already exists based on an index or ID

int Coffee_shops_layer = 1= Mapwidget.getlayerbyid (Coffee_shops_layer);

List all layers that already exist

int layercount = mapwidget.getlayercount ();  for (int i=0; i<layercount; + +i)    {= mapwidget.getlayer (i)}
