Apache and IIS servers share the server market

The IIS server is very powerful in our impression. According to foreign media reports, the British Internet statistics and analysis company Netcraft released the November this year Global Internet server statistics report last week. The report points out that more than 0.1 billion websites with domain names and content are hosted worldwide. The same report also pointed out that the market share of open-source website server software Apache is.

According to statistics from the company, open source Apache servers account for 60.3% of the market share in the website server software market, the second is Microsoft's free IIS Server bound to the operating system, with a market share of 31%, and the third is SUN's "Sun ONE Web Server". However, SUN's product market share is only 1.7%.

In general, the current website (WEB) server software market has been divided by Apache and IIS servers.

In 1995, Netcarft conducted its first website server survey. This survey found that the NCSA website server software occupied 57% of the market share, and the website server developed by CERN (European Atomic Energy Research Center) received 19% of the shares. Apache was a new force, its share is only 3.5%.

In addition, Microsoft's IIS server was launched in September. Apache's market share was nearly 70%. However, Apache's market share declined as some web hosting service providers gradually switch to Windows operating systems and IIS server software.

It should be noted that the selection of WEB servers is often related to the operating system of the server system.
