Current Situation of Optical Fiber Access Network

After several years of research and practice, the first step is to achieve FTTC from optical fiber to the roadside and FTTB from optical fiber to the building. The mature method is to build the trunk cable and the wiring cable respectively. First, use the logarithm to access the trunk cable along the main roads in the city, especially in the commercial area, when there is business demand, the optical fiber cables are routed from the optical fiber cables to various access points. The main organization of the optical fiber connection is the "annular access trunk cable + star distribution cable". The optical fiber connection equipment mainly uses the optical fiber connection box. With the popularization and promotion of broadband access, the demand for optical fiber access has increased in recent years:

◆ The number and proportion of fiber access networks of major customers are greatly increased;
◆ The implementation of the "light-in-copper withdrawal" construction strategy leads to an increase in the number of business access points;
◆ Many important customers require protection of optical cables in the wiring section;
◆ FTTH construction demands increase.

The increasing demand for optical fiber access networks has led to a significant increase in the construction scale and coverage of optical fiber cables. The existing construction modes and network organizations cannot meet the needs of large-scale optical fiber cable construction. In particular, the problems in user-intensive areas of optical fiber access networks in large cities are even more prominent. The main problems are as follows:

◆ The construction cycle of the trunk cable ring is long and cannot meet the requirements of rapid deployment;
◆ The optical cable transfer box has limited space, which is not conducive to expansion;
◆ The optical fiber configuration mode is not standard, and the resource consumption of fixed points of optical fiber cables in the box is high;
◆ A large number of customers require protection for cabling cables, and the existing annular cable structure adds complexity to the use of trunk cable for implementing the second route.

Adjustment of optical fiber connection point settings

For user development environments of different optical fiber access networks, different optical fiber connection points must be used. In the current environment, both fixed operators and mobile operators need to adjust the implementation of optical fiber connection points. Currently, the trunk optical fiber cables are connected using optical fiber transfer boxes as optical fiber transfer points. However, there are limits on optical fiber transfer boxes, especially in areas with intensive customers in large cities, currently, the commonly used 288 cabinets cannot meet the needs, but it is difficult or economical to increase the optical junction boxes. In this case, we should pay attention to the addition of access points during the construction of the trunk cable, and make full use of the space at the access points to build an appropriate optical distribution frame so that it can perform the optical transfer box function, this facilitates resizing and optical fiber allocation.

Figure 1b) in this case, the indoor Optical Distribution Frame of access points is introduced as the optical transfer point to form a mode that combines the optical fiber transfer box with the indoor Optical Distribution Frame. In areas with intensive requirements of the optical fiber access network, it can also be further developed into a model dominated by indoor optical distribution frames. Through investigation, many access bureaus of fixed network operators can meet the requirements in terms of geographical location, space, and other conditions.
