Driver Installation
If you do not know the video card type, please follow the following command to query:
Lspci | grep VGA
Enter the following command to view all open source drivers:
Pacman-ss Xf86-video | Less
To install the video driver:
Pacman-s Xf86-video-vesa
VESA is a general-purpose driver that supports most graphics cards and does not provide any 3D acceleration features.
To get the most out of your graphics card performance, install the driver by following the table below. It is recommended to use the open source driver first, which is less likely to drive problems.

Running
Display Manager:
The simplest approach is to use a login manager such as GDM, KDM or SLiM.
Manually:
If you do not use the login manager to start X, you need to install the package xorg-xinit.
pacman -s xorg-xinitpacman -s xorg-twm xorg-xclock xterm
startx and Xinit commands will start the X server and the client (StartX script is the front end of the more General Command Xinit). In order to determine which client to run, startx/xinit resolves the ~/.xinitrc file in the user directory first, and if ~/.XINITRC does not exist, uses the default/ETC/X11/XINIT/XINITRC, where the Twm window manager is used by default. Xclock and Xterm (need to install XORG-TWM, Xorg-xclock and Xterm).
