Nowadays, the security monitoring system is not only a complex optical fiber analog monitoring system, but more dependent on the network-based video monitoring system. With the increasing development of science and technology, the demand for IP network video monitoring is also growing. Coupled with the huge system architecture, analog monitoring is difficult to meet user needs, so the trend of IP will be unstoppable.

IP monitoring systems are getting increasingly popular. On the one hand, they are growing in the market, and on the other hand, they are closely linked with computer, network, exchange, storage, and other technologies, every innovation in computer, network, storage, exchange, and chip will bring new opportunities and challenges to the IP monitoring system, whether it is the transformation of old projects or the construction of new projects, more and more people are considering and deploying IP video surveillance systems. Simulate the transition from monitoring to IP video. Are you ready?

Let's take a look at the development history of monitoring technology.

Early surveillance systems were called CCTV, the closed-circuit television monitoring system, which was the first generation. The equipment mainly consisted of analog cameras, video splitters, video cables, matrices, keyboards, and video equipment VCR. The CCTV system has nothing to do with computers and networks. Even if the computer can be used for GUI operations and the matrix networking function is added later, the core technology is analog switching.

The emergence of the second generation of DVRs makes people shine. DVRs adopt digital video image processing methods and apply computer and network technologies. Videos are stored on hard disks and can be remotely managed over networks. However, its main application is to use a matrix to achieve digital image storage. Some people call this architecture a modulus hybrid structure. Because the matrix achieves switching and control, DVR replaces VCR to achieve video recording.

The emergence of IP cameras, encoders, and NVR has brought people into the era of Full-IP digital video. We call it the third generation. Traditional video matrices are replaced by networks and software and are called virtual matrices; the video image of the camera is converted to a digital signal nearby. uploading to the network does not need to connect all the videos like the DVR to the BNC access of the DVR). large-capacity storage devices replace the limited internal hard disk capacity of the DVR; the smart video analysis function is built into an IP camera or encoder. Cross-architecture, cross-region, or even cross-city video networking is easily implemented by the network.

Advantages and disadvantages of a simulated matrix system

1. Stability and technical maturity

In the Simulation Age, the core product is a matrix. The matrix has been born for decades and is the most important role in video monitoring. In addition, due to the characteristics of the simulation equipment, the stability of the matrix has been fully verified and recognized, and the habits over the years make people very fond of the matrix, and it is even difficult to accept its withdrawal from the stage of history.

2. simple installation and maintenance

The era of analog matrix is the "worker" era of video monitoring. According to the wiring drawings, workers can install the debugging matrix and maintain it later, just like connecting a DVD to a home TV, after the cables are connected, the matrix can work after power-on. Maintenance personnel do not need too many computer, network, storage and other knowledge reserves.

3. Difficult to expand

The characteristics of the simulation matrix determine that it must adopt the core collection architecture. All the videos and controls of the system need to connect to the control center where the matrix is located. The matrix itself uses the CPU + video expansion card chassis. System expansion is usually used to increase the chassis and board, which is limited in space and capacity. In addition, hardware devices must be added for expansion. Therefore, they are not doing well in terms of scalability and scalability.

4. Weak networking

Video matrices are often connected to the Internet. To achieve matrix networking, video input and output cards are usually cascade, and serial cascade is used for control, A large number of coaxial cables, optical fiber cables, and optical terminal equipment are required. The cost is high and the distance is limited. The networked Matrix also has certain functional limitations.

Basic concepts of IP monitoring

IP monitoring is based on the IP camera and Encoder as the hardware core device. Video signals are encoded and compressed from the front end, and the network is used as the transmission carrier. Based on the TCP/IP protocol, streaming media technology is used to transmit videos online, and network and software are used to call, store, and control the entire monitoring system. The IP monitoring system has the features of frontend integration, transmission network, processing digitalization, management intelligence, and system integration. It can meet the application requirements of large capacity and large span.

Currently, there are three types of IP monitoring systems: one is the architecture of DVR as the main device; the other is the architecture of encoder as the core hardware device + NVR; the third is the architecture of IP Camera + NVR as the core. Of course, the above three types are not absolute. They can be a mixture of various devices. That is to say, a system can coexist with DVR/NVR, IP camera, encoder, etc. Of course, no matter which architecture, support for platform software is also required. The industry holds that only systems with pure IP cameras and software are IP monitoring systems. in a strict sense, this is true because both DVR and Encoder architectures have analog signal access, however, I personally think that if the architecture is full DVR networking or encoder + NVR, the main data streams are transmitted, stored, and forwarded on IP-based routes. Therefore, it is also an IP monitoring system, this is also discussed in this article.
