Are you sure you want to use the 32-bit or 64-bit system bits?
Find the operating system version on your computer, and then follow the steps shown to determine the number of digits of the operating system.
Windows Vista
Method 1: view the system window in the control panel
1. Click Start, enter the system in the search box, and thenProgramClick System in the list.
2. The operating system displays the following information:

For 64-bit operating systems: the 64-bit operating system is displayed in the system type under the system list.
For 32-bit operating systems: the 32-bit operating system is displayed in the system type in the system list.
Method 2: view the system information window
1. Click Start, enter the system in the search box, and click system information in the program list.
2. When you select the system summary in the navigation bar, the operating system displays the following information:

For 64-bit operating systems: the x64-based PC is displayed in the system type under the project tab.
For 32-bit operating systems: the x86-based PC is displayed in the system type under the project tag.
Windows XP
Method 1: View "system attributes" on the control panel"
1. Click start, and then click Run.
2. Enter sysdm. CPL and click OK.
3. Click the regular tab. The operating system displays the following information:

For 64-bit operating systems: Windows XP Professional x64 version is displayed in the system list <year>.
For 32-bit operating systems, the Windows XP Professional version is displayed in the system list <year>.

Note that <year> is a placeholder for the year.
Method 2: view the system information window
1. Click start, and then click Run.
2. Input winmsd.exe and click OK.
3. When selecting the system summary in the navigation bar, the operating system displays the following information:

For 64-bit operating systems: the x64-based PC is displayed in the system type under the project tab.
For 32-bit operating systems: the x86-based PC is displayed in the system type under the project tag.
