Objective
Microsoft announced at last week's Windows Build conference that WIN10 will introduce native bash and will soon be available in the technical preview.
As a result, Windows command-line tools are no longer just cmd and PowerShell, and we can also use bash.
Today (2016/4/8) received a 14316 version of the technology Preview push, read the next introduction, sure enough to include bash. Let's introduce and install this new gadget.
Why are we using bash?
Because there are a lot of open source tools and software under Linux, we can use them with bash.
Solutions for using bash under Windows
Before we wanted to use bash in Windows, there were two ways to do it:
- Cygwin-Cygwin is a UNIX-like simulation environment running on the Windows platform, but it is not a Linux operating system.
- Virtual machines-Install a Linux system on Windows using a virtual machine, but the Linux system cannot get all the machine resources, and we can only operate it remotely (RDP, VNC, SSH)
Now, Microsoft has added a new Linux subsystem, the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL), to the Windows kernel. With this subsystem, we can use native Bash to operate the Windows system.
Note that WSL is not a virtual machine, but a real Linux environment within Windows. As described:
Installation Instructions
- Download and install the technical Preview 14316 Update, which takes about half an hour
- Add remove feature in install WSL
- Run cmd with the Administrator model and enter bash, download canonical offers Ubuntu, download speed is slow, I have to science Internet to finish
- Automatically installs after download and adds a bash on Ubuntu to Windows program
- Run this program and we can use the soundtrack bash in Windows
Using bash
We can work with bash like Linux.
- Let's start with a apt-get update.
- Try a redis, just like you do Linux
Summarize
Microsoft is increasingly determined to embrace open source, believing that bash on Windows can be a powerful addition to your game, whether you're playing with a cool outfit or a combat.
