2.6.1 Create a new graphic
After the AutoCAD system is started, the user can invoke the "new" command to create a new graphic, which is called by:
Toolbar: "Standard (Standard)"
Menu: "File" → "New ... (new) "
Command line: New
When this command is invoked, the system displays the Today window, where users create new graphics using templates, wizards, and more, as described in 3.1.
2.6.2 Open an existing graphic
Users can use the "open" command to open an existing graphic file in AutoCAD, which is invoked as follows:
Toolbar: "Standard (Standard)"
Menu: "File" → "Open ... (Open) "
Command line: Open
When the command is invoked, the Select File dialog box pops up, as shown in Figure 2-24.
The main controls in this dialog box function as follows:
(1) "Look in" Drop-down list: Specifies the file search path and displays the contents of the current directory in the list below it.
(2) "Preview (Preview)" column: Displays a preview image of the specified file.
(3) "file (file name)" Drop-down list: Specifies the file you want to open.
(4) "Files of (file type)" Drop-down list: Specifies the type of file you want to open.
(5) button: Click this button to open the specified file. The user can also click the button to the right of the button to eject the Drop-down menu, select the Open key to open the specified shape, or select the open read-only item to open the specified file as read-only to avoid modification of the file.
In addition, you can use this dialog box to open a file on your network, or to open the specified file in a partially open (Partial open) format. For more information about local open 16.1, see Chapter 26th for network operations.
