VMware tools is a virtual hardware driver for virtual machines. It allows you to seamlessly move the mouse out, share the clipboard, and share folders. Many Linux beginners do not install VMware tools when installing centos6.9. However, to install VMware tools, use the command line method. This is difficult for Linux beginners. Open the VMware Workstation software on your computer and start the Virtual Machine with CentOS6.9 installed.

Click "other", enter root in Username, and enter Password in Password to log on.

Click "Virtual Machine" in the upper left corner of VMware Workstations and select "Install VMwareTools" from the drop-down menu. A window is automatically displayed on the virtual machine.

Right-click the blank area in the pop-up window, and click "Open in terminal" on the left.

Create a folder named mnt with the following command:
Mkdir/media/mnt

Copy the VMwareTools package to the mnt directory and enter the following code:
Cp VM press the Tab key and add/media/mnt

Mount the VMware Tools installation disk to the/media/mnt/directory and enter the following code:
Mount-t auto/dev/cdrom/mnt

Enter the installation directory/media/mnt and enter the code:
Cd/media/mnt

Run the ls command to check whether the VMwareTools installation package exists in mnt. decompress the package. Run the following command: tar zxvf VM, press the Tab key, and then press Enter.

Enter the ls command, press the Tab key of the cd vm, and then press Enter.

Enter ls again.

Start installation. Enter the following code:
/Vmware-install.pl

There will be a pause during the installation process, asking you some questions, so you don't have to worry about this. In case of a stop, just click Enter.

After the installation is complete, restart the virtual machine.

- It is very important to restart the VM. If you do not restart the VM, VMwaretools does not work.
