Cisco VPN in Windows Vista

A new notebook (Dell vostro 1200) is configured, but it cannot be processed properly.

Pre-installed Vista Home Basic (I think this version is very low when I look at it ). After Vista has been out for so long, although I have always been quite resistant to new versions, I have tried my best to postpone the use (the historical trend is still unable to confront ), but if you have this opportunity, try the legendary Vista. So with a try attitude, the system was not reinstalled as usual.

Naturally, some software is installed first. It is found that many software cannot work normally under Vista, and the biggest problem is Cisco VPN. I tried it multiple times, from 5.0.00.0340 to 5.0.03.0560, and each time it ended in failure. The causes of the failure were different, and even Vista was crashed. There seems to be very little research on this in China. There are many people asking and few people solving this problem.

Without this, I cannot connect to the internal network of the organization, and many things cannot be carried out. In the end, I almost gave up. I have already deleted the Cisco VPN Client, but I have never thought that Vista has been out for so long. It should be more popular in foreign countries. Many people may have encountered this problem. Let's check whether there are any discussions outside China. I searched Google and found that many people still have this problem. At the same time, I found that one person's post was very popular: success:

The following procedure worked perfectly for me. This working setup is on a vista enterprise SP1 and Cisco VPN Client v5.0.03.0530.

-Uninstall VPN Client.
-Restart
-Install dne update. (http://www.deterministicnetworks.com/support/dnesupport.asp)
-Restart
-Log On As administrator
-Install VPN Client (right click "Run as admin ")
-Restart
-Log in as standard user
-Open VPN Client
-Open Task Manager
-Click "show process from all users"
-Set both cvpnd.exe and vpngui.exe for XP SP2 compatibility mode, and check the "run as administrator" box
-Restart

You will have to click the UAC prompt when starting windows, and when opening the client UI. But it finally works !!!!!

Note: I have had some strange issues when the client first starts. Sometime split DNS isn' t working, but I disconnect and reconnect and it usually fixes the problem.

Note: I have found the disabling IPv6 on the VPN adapter seems to help the split DNS problem. Will keep posting my findings. He tried it according to his description and succeeded. This is really a pleasant surprise. please come up and announce it. I hope it will help other confused comrades. -Uninstall VPN Client-Restart-install dne Update (http://www.deterministicnetworks.com/support/dnesupport.asp), this step is very important, it is estimated that the problem lies in dne. -Restart-Log On As administrator-install the VPN Client (right-click and use the Administrator identity to install the client ). -Restart-... because my user is an administrator, I skipped all the subsequent steps and did not try. Now VPN can work properly...
