Code complete Chinese Version 2 Draft Journal

Code complete Chinese Version 2/CodeDaquan (this is the name of the book I imagined. It is not necessarily called cc2e in the end .) The translation has been completed, and the review is also basically completed. This book is translated by four translators (Jin Ge Tang Ling Chen Shuo Zhang Fei) and reviewed by Qiu zongyan. It is currently in the drafting stage (mainly for me, and then submitted to the translator for review). The main tasks include:

    1. Unified terminology
    2. Complete cross-reference
    3. Supplement the original text so that the English words in the index can be basically found in the text.
    4. Revised the translated version based on the original errata

The selection of terms relates to the final quality of the entire book. Translators and reviewers have also repeatedly discussed the translation of some key terms. Considering that most of the readers of this book areProgramPersonnel:

    1. Fully respect the rational translation of published books
    2. Fully respect the daily communication habits of programmers

For example, tar pit is a vivid metaphor used by Brooks in The Mythical man-month. It is used to compare the development of large systems with the scenario where prehistoric giants are struggling in tar traps. Man-month myth is translated as a tar pit. This book also uses the same translation method. The more accurate translation may be the "tar lake", because I guess Brooks is probably referring to a famous tar lake near La, California, many drowned ancient creatures were found (see the mystery of the asphalt Lake ). In addition, "tar" is generally produced manually (by dry distillation of organic substances (such as wood, coal, or peat), and "Asphalt" is available under natural conditions, prehistoric giants are more likely to struggle in the "tar lake". Despite this, we still decided to adopt the "tar pit" translation to meet everyone's reading habits.

There are a variety of translation methods for version 2nd points, such as check in/check out in version management, "Check in/out", "check in/out", "log in/out", "Import/Export", and "retrieve/save back" appear on the network. We decided to keep the original article and think it is more in line with the programmer's daily communication habits. For example, my former colleagues often say "check in code you have changed ?" And so on. If you say Chinese, you may not get used to it. In addition, if version control software is used, check in/check out may be text on a menu or button, or command line parameters (both subversion and CVS ), you are familiar with it. So we decided to keep the original text for the two words. In this case, makefile (Chen Hao wrote the famous "Write makefile with me"). (Of course, there are still many situations for retaining the original text. I will explain it separately .)

. To be continued.
