Through understanding the computer network, its layer-7 structure has different protocols to regulate. Based on the network type, we can divide these protocols into LAN protocols and generalized network protocols. Now let's talk about what protocols are included in the broad network protocol.

Broad network protocol

Wan protocol is a layer-3 operation at the bottom of the OSI reference model, which defines the communication on different WAN media. There are many communication protocols, such as advanced Data Link Control Protocol, Point-to-Point Protocol, digital data network, integrated business digital network, digital user line, and X.25 protocol.

Generalized Network Protocol: HDLC Advanced Data Link Control Protocol

HDLC is a bit-based transmission control protocol with high efficiency and high reliability. It is a default protocol used by Ciseo routers in a wide range of application fields. HDLC is one of the most widely used protocols in the data link layer.

Broad network protocol: PPP Point-to-Point Protocol

The PPP protocol provides a connection between the router and the host to the network over synchronous and asynchronous circuits. It is mainly used for the wide-area connection mode of "dial-up Internet access.

Broad network protocol: DDN Digital Data Network

DDN is a data transmission network that uses digital channels to transmit data signals. DDN is a transparent transmission network that supports any procedures, network layers, and any protocols on it. It has a high transmission rate and low network latency. It can directly transmit high-speed data signals, provide flexible connection methods, and support data, voice, image transmission, and other services. DDN not only can be connected to the customer's terminal devices, but also can be connected to the user's network, providing a flexible networking environment for the user's network interconnection.

Broad network protocol: ISDN Integrated Service Digital Network

ISDN provides end-to-end digital communication lines. The basic rate interface service of ISDN provides two B channels and one D channel. The B channel of BRI is used to transmit user data, and the D channel is mainly used to transmit control signals. As ISDN directly provides digital channels between end-to-end, it features high speed, high quality, high reliability, and fast call connection, and can transmit data, voice, and image information.

Broad network protocol: X.25 Technology

X.25 has been the interface standard between the user network and the group switching network for many years. It is an interface between a data terminal device and a data circuit terminal device that operates in groups on a public data network. X.25 is a synchronous transmission protocol that supports error correction and diagnosis. It corresponds to layer-3 of OSI reference model. The first layer of x.25 defines the electrical and physical port features. The second layer of x.25 defines the frame format used for DTE/DCE connections. The third layer of x.25 describes the Group format and the process of group exchange.
