Firefox 3.6, chrome 4.0, and opera 10.5 have the latest versions. This is also a good time to test their performance. Lifehacker has recently released a new round of tests on Firefox, opera, Safari, and chrome browsers, the startup time, JavaScript speed, DOM/CSS query, and memory usage of various browsers were tested.

The test platform selects the Lenovo ThinkPad t61p, 2.0 GHz intel Centrino 2 processor, 2 gb ram, and runs Windows 7. The test benchmark suite selects Rob Keir and Mozilla dromaeo. Let's take a look at the specific test content and results:

1, Start time and hot loading time

Winner:Opera

Opera 10.01 and 10.5 pre-Alpha versions are very close in terms of cold start and hot start speed. In terms of the cold start of the browser for the first time and the hot start of the webpage after the browser is opened, both require less time than other browsers. Followed by opera, Google's chrome and Firefox.

2Tag page loading time

Winner:Chrome

This result is somewhat surprising. After all, opera has some advantage in the cold/hot start of the browser. However, after the opening time of the nine tags is recorded multiple times, the results still show that Chrome 4.0 stable version has excellent performance, thanks to Chrome's latest technology "open all links in bookmarks ", this is also helpful for loading a single tag.

3,JavascriptPerformance Testing

Winner:Opera 10.5 pre-alpha

Opera 10.5 outshines in Mozilla's dromaeo benchmark test results. Chrome 4.0 stable version and developer version and Safari 4.0.4 have also achieved good results.

4,DOM/CSSPerformance

Winner:Chrome

Google's Chrome browser has always been at the forefront in this regard, and Safari is also moving forward and is not far behind.

5Memory usage (no plug-in extension)

Winner:Firefox 3.6

Blue indicates memory usage at startup, and red indicates memory usage after 9 tags are opened.

Although Firefox 3.6 focuses on one-click theme replacement, plug-in management, and many other features to mention too much memory usage, we can see from the test that, firefox 3.6 significantly improves memory usage compared with Firefox 3.5. Too much memory usage has always been a pain point in Chrome's mind. Even the latest version of chrome 4.0 has become one of the four most memory-consuming browsers.

6Memory usage (including plug-ins)

Winner:Firefox 3.6

Firefox has always been the best browser in terms of Optimized Management of plug-in extension. This feature is further enhanced after the new version is released. Whether the tag is enabled or not, the memory usage of firefox after the plug-in is not increased much.

Overall score:

-Google Chrome 4.0.302.3 (developer version): 25

-Google Chrome 4.0.249.78 (stable version): 24

-Firefox 3.6: 20

-Firefox 3.5.4: 21

-Operators' 10.5 pre-Alpha: 25

-Opera 10.01: 15

-Safari 4.0.4: 19
