Completely uninstall HP printer

 

1. Delete the printer from "printer and fax" first

2. In the "printer and fax" window, click "file" = "server properties ---" driver ", select the driver to uninstall, and click" Remove.

If the system reports an error saying "the printer cannot be uninstalled and is in use", you can restart the computer and perform the preceding operations.

3. Install the new driver. Do not connect the USB cable of the printer to the computer before installation. When the software prompts a connection, otherwise, the installation fails.

   The procedure of HP LaserJet 1020 laser printer is used as an example. Other types of printers can also be used as a reference.

   After you confirm that the printer is deleted, if the printer icon still exists, right-click the HP LaserJet 1020 icon, select the "cancel all documents" menu item, and the printer icon will be deleted.

6. If you are prompted that the driver cannot be deleted in the "Print Server properties" window, click "OK" and restart the computer. 5. The following message is displayed:Figure 5: the error message "cannot be deleted" is displayed.

   Note:

   If you have not deleted the printer icon in the printer and fax window or used the printer before deleting the printer icon, you will be prompted in the print server Properties window that you cannot delete the driver.

7. Do not print the computer after it is restarted.To delete the driver.
