Core CISCO7609 fault Handling

Source: Internet
Author: User

Users call to say that the following schools are unable to surf the internet! This thing is a bit big, telnet to the user's security gateway and discover that the security gateway can log on and run normally. But the connection between the security gateway and the core 7609 is not connected, it seems that the problem should be 7609, and then the user reflects the following schools in the switch on the connection port indicates that the class is not lit, further determine the location of the problem--cisco7609

Rushed to the user site, found that the 7609 engine board lights are all lit red, this is not a good phenomenon. According to the user reflects the computer room in the past two days power outage two times, the failure occurred in the second power outage after the restart.

Through the console port Access Discovery 7609 entered the following mode:
Rommon 1 >

Although into the Rommon mode, but at least can come in, or good! The

is viewed through the dir command and finds that the system files are still in the following Dir view results

rommon 5 > Dir bootdisk:
Initializing ATA Monitor Library ...
Directory of Bootdisk:
2         160648132-rw-      C7600rsp72043-ipservices-mz.151-3.s4.bin

23709     461976   -rw-     Crashinfo_20141013-160619-BJ

after discovering system files, I followed the usual practice of manually booting 7609.

Rommon 6 > Boot bootdisk: C7600rsp72043-ipservices-mz.151-3.s4.bin

But the result of the guidance is not satisfactory!!! , the following is a manual boot process:

After a turn-over guide, 7609 again entered the Rommon mode. At this time my mood is not very good!!! It's a problem!

There may be someone like me who's been blindfolded by the above display! Manual boot unexpectedly not!!! I checked on the Internet, there is a friend met a similar situation, re-irrigation system is not, but the forum did not give a concrete solution, some people say 7609 of the card is broken, it is recommended to keep only the engine restart. I also tried to keep the engine restarted but I still couldn't.

Trying to fill out iOS? Is there any other way? After a few deliberation and discussion, decided to put iOS in the end, before this to carry out an important operation,Change the Register value! Can't make sure it works, but it can't be said to be useless!

Rommon 1 > Confreg 0x2102
Must reset or power cycle for new config to take effect

A restart is required after modifying the register value (actually I have made other changes before changing to 2102)

After reset to the system, it was found that 7609 started normally in one step

Resetting .....

I will not post the process of detecting the board at the back.

Finally the system finally started normal, in order to further test I disconnect the power, and then re-power, the system is still normal start! At this point, the fault solved!

Cranky: I was thinking is not because of the user there two times power, the power-up process, due to different voltage, current level, resulting in the instantaneous system register value changes, resulting in a later fault!
