Data center energy saving does not affect network cable cooling

At present, the data center's heat dissipation is generally designed to separate hot and cold channels, that is, the cold and hot channel control technology, to isolate the cold and hot channels, to prevent mixed cold and hot air, the cold channel helps the device get the air-conditioning flow, and then the hot air flow is discharged through the hot channel. In this mode, the data center can control the addition of cold air in the data center to reduce the removal of hot air, so as to improve the heat dissipation efficiency. If IDC room management personnel are wiring in strict accordance with international standards, a practical, flexible, and scalable integrated wiring system will be established for the data center.

Influence of network cable on Heat Dissipation

The network cable itself has little to do with the heat dissipation of the data center, but unprofessional wiring may affect the heat dissipation efficiency. The Data Center Administrator may be troubled by the following problems because the cabling fails to comply with standards:

The cabling in the IDC room was too messy. In the early stage, the Administrator did not follow the reasonable Wiring Scheme for the convenience of greed, but simply added the new line to the old line. Over time, the tangle of lines not only makes it difficult to clarify, but also hinders the hot channel access, making the hot and cold exchange unable to proceed smoothly. Therefore, the data center has to add more equipment (such as fans) to mobilize more energy consumption to solve the heat dissipation problem.

Deploying a network cable to a heat sink device and a vent is also one of the improper wiring methods, which will directly affect the heat dissipation, resulting in reduced heat dissipation speed and the service life of the device. Air outlets are installed on the top of the Cabinet to facilitate equipment ventilation. If cables are accumulated at the air outlets, ventilation will be blocked. As a result, the data center is very stuffy and has to use more energy to solve the ventilation problem, or cooling. Neat cabling requires cables to be placed closely on both sides of the device without affecting air exchange.

The selection of network cable quality is also a problem. Currently, the mainstream network cable in the data center is cat6 network cable, that is, cat6 unshielded twisted pair wires. Its performance meets the requirements of TIA/EIA 568 B2 International Standard cabling and even exceeds the standard. Not only is the transmission performance good, but it will also be able to adapt for a long time in the future, without the need for early upgrades. However, if you select a quality network cable at the beginning, it will often lead to repeated investment in the future, resulting in line accumulation.
