The third largest part is the UPS power supply and distribution system, which accounts for about 10% of the total energy consumption of the data center. Among them, the UPS power supply system accounts for about 7% of the total power consumption, and the UPS input power supply system accounts for about 3% of the total power consumption.

In addition, the remaining 3% of the total power consumption of the data center belongs to the auxiliary lighting system. To reduce the energy consumption of data centers and achieve green energy conservation and emission reduction, the most important thing is to reduce the energy consumption of IT equipment. air conditioning systems, power supply and distribution systems, and auxiliary lighting systems are also factors that cannot be ignored.

Green advances, saving energy and reducing consumption must be broken down one by one

Energy conservation and consumption reduction are of great significance for green data centers. In terms of energy conservation design, it meets business needs and runs safely, energy-saving measures and ideas should be explored in four aspects: IT equipment, air conditioning system energy-saving, power supply system and lighting system energy-saving.

The most fundamental factor involved is the cost. The main focus of consumption reduction is on IT equipment. for IT equipment selection, the energy-saving measures mainly involve three aspects: Device selection, use, deployment and maintenance. Under the premise of Security, IT equipment utilization should be improved as much as possible to save the number of running devices and reduce costs.

The selection of specialized air-conditioning systems for data centers should be based on data center construction standards, construction scale, construction conditions, usage characteristics of equipment in the data center, and meteorological conditions in the region, based on factors such as the local energy structure, price policy, and environmental protection regulations, it is determined by comparing the technical economy.

At the same time, it is imperative to make use of energy-saving innovation. China's "energy-saving industry" 12th Five-Year Plan "clearly states that by 2015, the PUE value of data centers should be reduced by 8%. The technical innovation and overall improvement of the O & M level of the data center will bring great significance to the development of the whole society.

In addition, overcapacity in data centers is also a great test of energy conservation and consumption reduction. Some IDC people believe that, after years of unordered development, large data centers may become a new "waste ". The growth rate of data centers is too fast, but the yield rate is not keeping up with the pace of growth. The main reason for the low yield is the unbalanced business volume, which is a big waste for data center construction.
