This trial provides steps for creating and configuring a typical single quorum device multi-node server cluster that uses a shared disk on a server running the Microsoft®windows®server 2003 Enterprise Edition operating system.

Documentation provides guidance on creating and configuring server clusters for connecting to shared cluster storage devices and running the Server 2003 Enterprise Edition Servers. The purpose of this document is to guide you through the steps of installing a typical cluster and not to explain how to install a clustered application. Windows cluster (Windows Clustering) solutions and geographically dispersed clusters are not discussed for the implementation of non-traditional quorum models, such as the majority node set (majority node Set,mns). For additional information about server cluster concepts and installation and configuration steps, see Windows Server 2003 online Help.

This test is implemented under the virtual Environment VMware GSX Server, virtual Nodea,nodeb two operating systems, because cluster requires a domain environment, NodeA do DC and DNS server, NodeB do additional DC. This experiment with step by St EP mode combined with screenshots details the operation of cluster conditions, cluster installation, deployment, disaster recovery and related diagnostics.

1. The computers in the cluster nodea,nodeb all have Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition installed and patched, otherwise the driver needs to be installed when the SCSI disk is installed

2. A name resolution method: Domain Name System (SYSTEM,DNS)

3. DC:test.com

4. Nodea[dc],nodeb[nodea additional DC]

5. One domain-level account: Administrator

6. Operating environment: vmware.gsx.server.for.windows.v3.1.kg,[http://soft.ttdown.com/ViewDownURL.asp?softID=18817]

1. Create SHAREDISK.PLN,QDISK.PLN

As shown in figure

Add-the "Add Hardware Wizard" interface appears, next---the "Hardware Type" interface, select the hard disk,next---appear as shown in the following figure, choose Create a new virtual disk

Next---The virtual disk type appears, as shown in

Select Scsi,next---appear disk capacity interface, as shown


Disk size (GB): 0.5, Cancel allocate all disk spaces now front of the tick. Next---appear as shown below

Name it QDISK.PLN and save it to the local g:/scsi/path

Same principle add Sharedisk, Disk size (GB): 2, Cancel allocate all Disk spaces now front of the tick. When set, as shown

2. Add QDISK.PLN,SHAREDISK.PLN separately to Nodea,nodeb

As shown in the NodeA

Select Use an existing virtual Disk,next, as shown below

Select QDISK.PLN and add the same method to add the SHAREDISK.pln.NODEB QDISK.PLN,SHAREDISK.PLN

3. Configure QDISK.PLN,SHAREDISK.PLN in Nodea,nodeb

In Disk Management, convert two SCSI disks to basic disks, create primary partitions,

Formatted as NTFS, quorum disk is set to Q Partition, volume label Qdisk, 2G of that set to S Partition, volume label Sharedisk
