Recently I was thinking about software products. By the way, I thought about product classification.

In China, the main products are personal products and enterprise products. In China, if copyright is not paid much attention to, most of the products for individual users are made by individual enthusiasts, companies do not do much. Even if they do, they do not make profits by the software itself. Relatively representative, yongzhong remarried, Kingsoft relies on games to make money, QQ relies on value-added, and 360 rely on traffic to make money.

The vast majority of Chinese companies are engaged in enterprises, which can be seen from the recruitment website. Therefore, there is not much room for developers to choose from. Not because there are not many companies, but because the content is similar, it is easy to master.

The product itself is divided into three categories: one is to increase the value of the customer, and the other is the best to sell such products, such as the mobile text message service and the phone number of China Telecom, this type of project is very popular among customers. However, this type of product is not too many and is often difficult to find. The other type is convenient for customers. This type of products occupies the majority, such as network management and financial software. There are many such products, but the competition is fierce, mainly relying on relationship users. In China, because such products do not attract the core value of customers, users can use them. In addition, the customer's business system, formerly called MIS, is a product that helps users manage their own businesses, however, most of these products are customized products, which are difficult to promote, and most rely on relationship users. However, a major benefit of such products is that the relationship is not too bad, the product is not too bad, and there will be maintenance fee upgrade fee and so on every year. In Chinese companies, the third category of products is concentrated, and strictly speaking, it should be a project.

Our company has always been secure. After so many years, we have made a product that is not shaped, that is, 4A. This article does not focus on 4A, but on product segmentation issues derived from 4A.

From the positioning of 4A, it is mainly used in the enterprise market for medium and high-end users, such as operators, finance, tobacco, electricity, and so on.

The product itself is the second type, which brings convenience to customers.

In terms of segmentation, it is an O & M product. It can be understood literally as a product for operation and maintenance. This type of products can be further subdivided. Network management products are typical. There is also a wide range of products for O & M, the typical is the north tower.

O & M products are mainly used to solve the operation and maintenance problems of a large number of devices, including network, security, auditing, and monitoring.

It can be abstracted into two categories. Category 1 is the O & M of human behaviors, and category 2 is the O & M of devices.

4A products are mainly responsible for O & M of human behaviors, while taking into account some maintenance of the device itself. Therefore, it is a big and comprehensive product. This feature makes it difficult to do products.

Previously, I talked to a buddy of lianchuang about this. Their practice is not to form a product, but to create a project for each customer. However, as the project increases, the investment in manpower is very huge, in addition, the future maintenance cost is huge.

So how can we make 4A into a product? I think what we need to do is abstraction and subdivision. There may be more products.

4A can be literally divided into account, authentication, authorization, audit, and monitoring. However, it is not realistic to create a product in each category. Because many products are associated, We need to abstract them again at this time.

Management of things needs to be divided into management of people and Management of things, management of things can be divided into monitoring, configuration and audit.

Therefore, the product can be divided into several products: bastion host products, which can be divided into windows bastion host and Linux bastion host products. Each product has its own advantages and disadvantages; unified authentication products; and system monitoring products; unified configuration management products and log analysis products.

These products are combined to form one or more solutions to meet users' needs. After the project is finished, the product is ready.

The idea is a bit messy. When I talk about it many times, I understand it in my own mind. I can also explain it clearly and easily.
