Linux: I typed the following command #mkfs.ext2/dev/sda2

The prompt information for the screen is:
MKE2FS 1.32 (09-nov-2002)
/dev/sda2 is mounted; Won't make a filesystem here!

Be sure to remember that you cannot format after partitioning!! You can see in the error message that your partition is already there. First, the partition is unloaded and reformatted: Umount//sda2mkfs.ext2//sda2 So there's no problem. Then you repartition.
