The results of the Opnet show two types: the display of vector results and the display of scalar results

1. Display of vector results

Vector output is the most commonly used form of results, in most cases, the horizontal axis represents the time, this component will be monotonically increasing in the simulation, the expression is the value of the statistic changes over time.

Unlike the vector output, only the list of individual values is recorded in the scalar output. Typically, scalar output is used to record the result of a set of data that needs to be combined, such as average, probability, and peak values, so the output of a scalar usually comes from processing the contents of the recording in the vector output. Because the scalar output value is a single-pointing list, if used alone, the function is limited, the common use is to record multiple statistics and multiple parameters in multiple simulations, and then combine them to form a new diagram to express the relationship between parameter changes and statistical changes. Typically, a graph of throughput vs load is generated in the performance analysis to explore the capacity limits of the network hosting business. The load scalar here is used as a separate variable, and as the simulation input is changed in each simulation, the throughput is recorded as a result scalar as a non-independent variable.

The source of the scalar result is the active output of the call Op_stat_write_scalar () function in the process code.

Simulation sequence

The simulation sequence is a series of simulations and definitions of related attribute values. When the value of an attribute in the simulation can change in a range, then each typical value may need to do an experiment, if there are random behavior in the model, in order to study the effect of a typical value on performance, we need to change the random seed to do a series of experiments, The simulation sequence exists for this kind of experiment which needs to repeat and analyze the result.

Typically, a scalar output is used to record results when running a simulation sequence, while a single simulation uses a vector output to analyze the results. Because scalar output can accumulate data during simulation, it is advantageous for parametric analysis, and vector output can automatically record the time of the statistical results and be refreshed after each simulation, so it is suitable for observing the dynamic behavior in each simulation.
