Dreamweaver allows web pages to expand with browsers

In the past, we often suffered a headache from automatic scaling of dreamweaver tables, and we were envious of the fact that Fontpage could draw tables at will. But now in dreamweaver4, all this is quite simple.

Dreamweaver4 provides two views: Layout view and standard view. If you think you are able to control the dreamweaver table, you can work in the standard view you are familiar with. If you like the Fontpage function, in the Layout view, you can do this as you like. In this view, you can also fix one part of your webpage while the other part is automatically stretched, no matter how big your browser window is, can make your web page suitable for the browser window without deformation.

If you have used fireworks, another product of macromedia, you must know that fireworks can also generate html files, but it will always generate 1 pixel gif image, this image is used to fill in the blank area of your table so that your table will not be deformed. Now dreamweaver4 also has this feature, which can automatically generate a GIF image named spacer to fill your table, so that your table will not be automatically scaled.

Implementing the above two functions is very simple in dreamweaver4. Let's create a new site first, and then draw a 1*3 table with a familiar table tool, regardless of its width. Because, we can make it automatically expand to fit the browser window (of course you can also draw a table directly in the layout view), then click the layout View button at the bottom of the object panel, a dialog box appears, you don't have to worry about it. This is just a brief introduction to the use of the two tools in the layout view. Press OK. We switched to the layout view.

Now, there is a green layout table label in the upper left corner of the table, which represents your table. The tag contains three blank parts, each of which is highlighted in width and has a small triangle. In this table, I want the leftmost column of my table to be fixed, and the entire table is suitable for the browser width. Before dreamweaver4, this was very difficult. We can set the table to 100% to fit the browser width, but it is quite difficult to fix a cell. But now you only need to decide which part of the table you want to fix and which one is what you want to stretch. The only thing to remember is that we can only make one column automatically stretch !!

 

Here, I decided to use my blue table as a stretch column.

Select the last column, click the triangle button above it, and select make column autostretch in the menu that appears.

As it is a new site, a dialog box will appear prompting you to put some spacer images in other rows in order to make the row stretch. There are three options below:

Create a spacer image: Create a spacer image, which is not displayed in the browser window. It only acts as a fixed table.
Use an existing spacer image: Use an existing spacer image.
Don't use spacer images for autostretch: Do not use spacer images for stretching, so that other rows will be deformed.
