Although ESRI ArcGIS Engine and ArcGIS Server both support Java-based development, there is a problem-debugging is difficult, because ArcGIS Server ADF is rewritten in Java, so there is no debugging problem, however, once the underlying COM object is called, whether it is arcengine or AGs, the debugging tool provided by IDE is powerless. The debugging window displays the details of these object proxies, rather than the status of ArcObjects, for the R & D engineers of ArcGIS, it is important to design the framework and development of AO and ADF, non-development languages, which caused me to switch from the Java platform in the first place. NET platform, easy to learn :)
We often used to reference an ESRI Website:
ESRI should have been aware of this problem for a long time. Now, an Eclipse plug-in is provided to facilitate engineers who develop environment based on Eclipse to debug arcengine and AGS and promote System Development and Application on non-Windows platforms, I still don't know whether it is easy to use or not. I hope this is a good starting point and the more perfect it is:
Add the plug-in now:
1. Open eclipse-help-Software Update-search and install
2. Add a new remote site: http://downloads.esri.com/edn/java/plugins/eclipse, with the name eclipse_java_plugins.
3. Check eclipse_java_plugins.
4. Execute update
5. Select "ArcGIS debug 9.2.0" in the search results"
6. Accept the terms in the license agreement
7. Confirm the installation information
8. Installation
