English resume strategy

I often see some posts that translate my resume. In fact, I personally think that the resume is not fixed and can be freely used. However, there is a principle that is related to the first impression of your English level after you read your resume, that is, the words, sentences, expressions, and other words in your resume must be authentic. That is to say, it cannot contain too much so-called Chinese English, which makes others feel uncomfortable when they look at it.
Recently, I had the honor to get some resumes from foreigners (including non-English speaking countries). After reading them, I learned a lot and shared my experiences. Although the question is "complete strategy", it is difficult to understand the problem in a short time. If it is not complete, I hope you can correct it and add it. In general, after reading these English resumes, I feel that it is better to write another resume in English than translating the Chinese resume into English. In this way, the resume written based on the way of thinking and habits in English will be more authentic.
I. Resume Structure
First, the entire resume should be divided into several parts: basic information, self-introduction, educational experience, work experience, and so on. How to separate these parts depends on your own. However, some content is indispensable. The topics I have seen on these resumes are listed below:
I noticed that most of my resumes are at the top (the title) of the job seeker's name and contact information. Some resumes use their names as titles, and then their intention or contact information is written in the following positions. Some of them are the effect of making the contact information into a header. This method can help readers clearly understand the contact information and intention of the person's name, improve efficiency, and impress the job seeker. What they have in common is that most of them use names as titles, and then explicitly indicate their contact information and intention to apply for a job.
Next is the body of the resume. All resumes put education experience first. It seems that the education background is the primary concern of the other party. Educational backgrounds are arranged in descending chronological order, with the most recent ones at the top. Some time is written in front, followed by the school and major as the title, or put the school and major in front, followed by time. The title is described below.
Then there is work experience. The format is basically the same as that of the education background. Some resumes include courses, training courses, and other relevant courses between educational background and work experience. In addition, you can add volunteers after the job manager.
These are the highlights of your resume. Most of the subsequent content is your skills, language skills, and computer skills. Sometimes there are personal hobbies and other more comprehensive content.
2. Word Translation of resumes
Some Chinese and English comparisons are listed below (in some cases, multiple English words can be used for representation and separated by '|'. Here, only the resumes are listed, and may not be limited to them ):
Job intention ------- objective
The term objective appears frequently in computer games. It is generally used as an introduction to the task before each mark. Literal translation is the goal and purpose. If objective exists, it is generally placed in the first column of the body.
Educational background -------- education | education and qualifications
If you use this tool, do not add background. It is a bit of suspicion of Chinese-English. If it contains some certification training, you can write it as education and qualifications.
Personal Profile, self-evaluation -------- personality highlights | synopsis
The term synopsis is general and the content is more flexible, including personal character and current situation.
Personality highlights focuses on introducing its own advantages and advantages.
Work experience ---------- experience | work (ing) experience | job experience | employee experience
These are similar. There are also individuals using employee highlights.
I noticed that a person used research experience in work experience, and then looked at the content to find that this person's experience was a research-type job, including some research performed during college.
Activities (including on-campus activities) ------------ activities
Activities are the most common and all activities are included.
Campus involvement & activities add compus here, which is limited to schools. Involvement here I guess it refers to the long-term activities of a community or an organization. Activities are not limited.
Honors and rewards -------- honors | Awards
Some simply use Honors & Awards
Remaining
Skill ---- skills | additional skills
Hobbies ----- hobbies
Computer skills ------ computer skills can also be part of skills.
Volunteer Experience ----- volunteering

Next we will introduce the translation of specific content.
Fluent in a language: Fluent in xxx
Mandarin: Mandarin Chinese
Familiar with...: familiar ....
Proficient...: proficient with | advanced skills in... | advanced software user: (list well-versed software names)
Individual and person: individual (do not use person or something)
About Language Capabilities: daily spoken (frequently used) and training obtained (trained --- I think it is not limited to language skills)

Iii. Summary
These resumes give me the most concise feeling. No nonsense. In some cases, the subject is omitted, for example, activities: President of college Democrats. The Chinese resume generally says "I used to serve as the Chairman of the Student Union ", if you want to translate it into English, you will be very arrogant: "I 've been the president of the Students 'union of the College ", it is better to say "President of the Students 'Union", which can be as simple as possible. As for the student union, the student union does not have to care about it. Besides, if you really care about it, you will have a chance for an interview. Moreover, the language is concise and not prone to errors.
When encountering some vocabulary that is not very good at translation, you don't have to worry about it. You can create it by yourself, as long as you can correctly express the meaning of the Chinese vocabulary. After all, there is no ing between the two languages.
I saw a resume added after education, double majors and higher level course work. In this way, the outstanding educational or work experience is listed separately, which is easy to attract attention, is a good method.
In short, a qualified English resume should be a concise, well-structured, clear expression, and no errors.
