Scenario: A department needs to track the sending, receiving and forwarding of a confidential email in January.
1) Practical email tracking
Here, I use the mail tracking tool that comes with exchange, and then filter the mail subject to track all emails within a specific period of time.
Here is an example. For example, if there is a notification about the May Day holiday in March, I will filter out all emails about the notification. Here, I use the method of filtering themes.
Open the EMC console and find the email tracking tool.
After opening the email tracking tool, click Select task ],
On the select Task page, click mail tracking ],
Here, the Mail Tracking conditions I set are "subject" and "recipient". The time range is from January 1, May 1-5 to April 25,
In fact, mail tracking can be completed through the exchange command line management program. As shown below, when we specify the mail tracking condition, exchange will automatically give the corresponding command line operation command,
Click Next. After tracking, You can see emails that have been tracked,
In addition, note that if the specified condition contains the "" symbol, the tracking will fail, because although we perform operations on the GUI, however, this command is still executed in the background using exchange power shell. If the specified topic contains "", an error is returned.
2) tracking problems
By default, the mail tracking function of Exchange 2007 can only trace information of the last month.
By default, the maximum length of any email tracking log file is 30 days. When one of the following conditions is true, the cyclic log will delete the oldest Mail Tracking log file:
The Mail Tracking log directory reaches its specified maximum size.
The maximum length of the email tracking log file has been reached.
However, the longest record period cannot be modified. The official solution is as follows:
In addition, subject search is not recommended for Security and Privacy Policies.
By default, the subject line of an SMTP email is stored in the mail tracking log. However, you may need to disable email topic logging to meet higher security or privacy requirements. Before enabling or disabling mail topic logging, make sure that you have verified the Organization policy for displaying topic line information.
You can also disable or enable the mail topic log record in the mail tracking log,
