I have been using RedHat 9 Linux for a long time. I mentioned Ubuntu when I talked to my friends about the GTK version one day. Then we started a pleasant journey over the past few days.
The first thing to do is to get ubuntu. Unlike rh9, it is completely free. You can download it as needed or directly ask for the installation CD. The Chinese official website is as follows:
Http://www.ubuntu.org.cn/
I downloaded the x86 version. About MB. Then burn it.
Then start the installation. This process is almost the same as rh9. The official Ubuntu documentation is also detailed:
Http://www.ubuntu.org.cn/support/documentation/doc/install-i386
I will not talk about it here. Be careful when partitioning. It is best to back up important files in advance,
After the installation is complete, you can configure the software source. Ubuntu software is downloaded from here. Therefore, this is very important. You can refer to the following documents:
Http://www.ubuntu.org.cn/support/documentation/zhfaq/first_install
Then install various applications with APT-Get. You can find the software you need by using the search function of the new installation package update tool in the System menu, system settings, and system settings. I installed gcc4 .. 0, mono1.1, j2se1.4, etc. The official documentation also lists command line download and update Methods for a series of commonly used software. You can also directly refer to the following list:
Http://www.ubuntu.org.cn/support/documentation/guide
Finally, install eclipse. Six plug-ins are used. CDT, EMF, GEF, VE, JEM, and WTP.
Finally, I opened the source code of my website, which is very nice, as shown in:
The overall feeling is better than rh9:
1. Windows partitions are automatically loaded. You do not need to use the vfat command to manually set/etc/profile;
2. Support for a large official software library. The apt-Get update method is several times more convenient than finding a suitable RPM package in the world.
3. The speed is even more satisfactory. In the past, the eclipse with such configuration was started in 2 seconds,
4. Ubuntu has an online document system that includes almost all the content. The service is in place to facilitate usage and secondary development.
It seems that the prospects for Linux and open-source are getting better and better. We look forward to ing ,,,
