Failed to upgrade kernel 2.6.18 to 2.6.26-Linux general technology-Linux programming and kernel information. The following is a detailed description. Just less than a week after getting started with LINUX, cainiao, the environment is like this: Red Hat Enterprise 5, kernel version 2.6.18, the main board is NVIDIA MCP61, SATA hard drive, sound card Realtek ALC883, another HD2600 video card is equipped with an HDMI sound card. After installation, I cannot recognize my ALC883. I found on the Internet that kernel versions 2.6.22 or later and ALSA Versions later than 1.0.13 support this sound card, so I decided to upgrade the kernel. After the upgrade, the problem is as follows:
One is the startup error: cocould not find filesystem/dev/root. For errors, see the attachment. Some people on the Internet say that it is enough to compile all SCSI into the kernel. Is there any reason for this?
The second is the CPU recognition problem during startup. The general report is that CPU 0 is not Intel, and CPU 1 is not Intel. I have amd x-Dragon 4000 +. when compiling the kernel, I have selected Opteron/Althon/Sempron (K8) for the CPU support type ), why did I report to the police that it was not INTEL's CPU when I started the upgrade? I didn't select INTEL.
In addition, if someone helps solve the Sound Card problem, I am grateful (6) m: B
