In Win 2000 and Win 98 systems, reinstalling Win 98 will destroy the boot records generated by Win 2000, resulting in loss of the boot menu and failure to enter Win 2000. So what method can we reinstall Win 98 in the dual system and keep the original Start Menu? The general method is to use Win2000 to install the disc for restoration. Here is an alternative method to remove the Windows 2000 disc:
1. After the computer is started, select "Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" in the "Double Boot" menu, log on to Win 2000 as a system administrator, and open "Start> Settings> Control Panel" in sequence ", double-click "system", select "advanced", and click "Start and recover fault" to open the dialog box, select "Default OS" as "Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional", remove "√" before "display OS list", and click "OK" to exit. Restart your computer.
2. After the computer is restarted, the system will directly enter Windows 2000. Log on to Win 2000 as a system administrator and repeat Step 1. However, you need to check "√" before "show operating system list" and click "OK" to exit. Restart your computer.
3. Press the "Del" key when starting the computer to go To the BIOS Settings Main Interface. Set the system boot sequence to enable the drive, save the settings, and exit.
4. Start the computer with a boot floppy disk of Windows 98 and start the Windows 98 installation program to install the system.
5. After restarting the computer, set the system boot sequence to hard disk boot. Then, you can see that the dual-Start Menu has been automatically restored without knowing it. Select "Microsoft Windows 98" in the "Double Start" menu to continue to install the Windows 98 operating system.
