Red Hat summit in 2014-AMD announced in April 16 that it had set up another important milestone in enterprise software ecosystem development, demonstrating its second generation AMD haolong X Series APU for the first time; the APU code is "Berlin" (Berlin) and runs a Linux environment based on the Fedora Project. The Fedora Project is a red hat-sponsored and community-driven Linux release that provides a familiar enterprise-level operating environment for developers and IT administrators around the world. This is important for enterprises that want to transition to x86 APU servers but are unwilling to introduce new tools and new software platforms to their IT environments. In addition, this demonstration also represents a significant step forward in the x86 APU acceleration performance in the data center.

AMD's "Berlin" APU "premiere will show you the world's first heterogeneous system architecture (HSA) using the server APU, which will be officially launched later this year. This demonstration includes an introduction to the advanced results used in "Project Sumatra", which enable Java applications to utilize graphics processing units (GPUs) within the apu of the amd server ). The combination of Linux and Java on amd apu provides an ideal platform for server-based multimedia workloads and GPU general-purpose computing, this will help increase the workload efficiency in the data center to a new level. In addition, AMD will demonstrate the OpenCL and OpenGL-based software on the "Berlin" APU.

Suresh Gopalakrishnan, global vice president and general manager of the server business department of AMD, said: "As servers can adapt to new and changing workloads, therefore, it is critical that the software ecosystem can support these new workloads. We are actively working with a range of partners in the data center software community to bring the relevant software architecture to the market to seamlessly enable x86 APU-based servers ".

AMD is one of the founding members of the HSA Foundation, an organization dedicated to building a robust ecosystem to support APU technology.
