1. Drop down menu

The menu bar in AutoCAD is a drop-down menu, a cascading hierarchy. The main menu, displayed in the menu bar of the AutoCAD window, allows the user to click the left mouse button to eject the corresponding menu item on the main course item. For example, click the Tools menu in the menu bar, as shown in Figure 2-5.

menu items have different forms and roles, with the Tools menu as an example of the following:

(1) The first category of menu items: You can directly execute a command, such as the "Today", "Properties" and so on.

(2) The second category of menu items: text followed by an ellipsis "...", such as "Quick Select ..." (Quick selection) "," Load application ... (Load application), and so on, which means that when you select the menu item, a related dialog box pops up, providing a more detailed interface for the user's further actions.

(3) Category III menu items: The rightmost triangular arrow of a menu item, such as "Inquiry (query)", "MACRO (Macro)", and so on, indicates that the menu entry contains a cascading submenu.

In addition, some menu items display (or cancel) the "?" on the left while the command is executed. tag to indicate a state. menu items such as on, off, and so on.

Users can activate a menu item in the following three ways:

(1) Click the left button directly on the menu item.

(2) Press the ALT key to activate the main menu item, and then activate it by pressing the underlined letter in a menu item. For example, if you press the ALT key and press the letter T to open the Tools menu, and then press the letter M, you can invoke the Meet now command.

(3) Some menu items on the right side of the display has a combination of key forms, such as "ctrl+1", "Ctrl + C" and so on. For this type of menu item, the user can activate the menu item without having to activate the main menu and press the key combination directly.

2. Shortcut menu

The shortcut menu is a new feature that starts with AutoCAD 2000. When the user clicks the right mouse button, the shortcut menu pops up at the cursor, depending on the position of the cursor or the system state. For example, when you right-click after selecting an object, the shortcut menu displays the most commonly used editing commands, and the options for that command are given in the shortcut menu, as you right-click during the execution of the command.
