Create a new fireworks document

Source: Internet
Author: User

The new document in Fireworks will be saved as a Portable Network Graphics (PNG) document. PNG is the intrinsic file format for Fireworks. The shapes you create in Fireworks can be exported or saved in a variety of Web and graphics formats. Regardless of which optimization and export settings you choose, the original Fireworks PNG file is preserved for later editing.

Create a new document

1 Select "File" > "new". The New Document dialog box opens.

2 Enter the document settings, and then click OK. Note: Select the custom canvas color using the Custom Color box pop-up window.

Set the default size for a new document

When you first turn on Fireworks, the following dimension values are the default values displayed in the New Document dialog box:

660 x 440 (Windows)

500 x (MAC)

When you change the canvas size in Fireworks, the settings in the New Document dialog box will not change. When you copy an object, the default settings change. The dimensions of the copied object (on the Clipboard) are automatically used in the dimensions in the New Document dialog box. To clear object dimensions from the Clipboard, do the following (Windows):

1 Create a document with a preference dimension.

2 Save the document, and then close the Fireworks.

3 Reopen Fireworks, and then create a document.

The previously saved document size is displayed in the New Document dialog box.

When you create a new document in Mac OS, Fireworks still retains the size of the previous copy object. This is because when you cut or copy other elements (such as text)

, the contents of the Clipboard are retained all the time. If you copy an element that is not related to a dimension, when you select New, the previous saved size is displayed by default.

Create a new document with the same size as the object on the Clipboard

1 Copy the object to the Clipboard from another Fireworks document, Web Browser, or any application that is allowed to paste.

2 Select "File" > "new". The New Document dialog box opens with the width and height dimensions of the object in the Clipboard.

3 Set the resolution and canvas color, and then click OK.

4 Select Edit > Paste to paste the object from the Clipboard into the new document.

Template

Save the Fireworks file as a template and use the template to create a new file. This template is saved in the Fireworks PNG format. Fireworks provides a list of pre-built custom templates for mobile, prototyping, Web sites, and web frameworks that you can customize.

Creating templates

1 Create the file. You can add placeholders to your design and content to help standardize the appearance of documents that you create with that template.

2 Choose "File" > "Save As Template" to save the file as a template Fireworks PNG file.

Create a file from a template

1 Select "File" > "New from Template".

2 Select the template you want to use to create the file, and then click Open.

Note: Fireworks specific data (such as page, layer, and vector information) is stored in the template.
