ESXi snmp service

Step 1: modify the configuration file of the snmp service

~ # Vi/etc/vmware/snmp. xml

Before modification:

<Config> <snmpSettings> <enable> false </enable> <communities> </communities> <targets> </snmpSettings>

After modification:

<Config> <snmpSettings> <enable> true </enable> <communities> public </communities> <targets> </snmpSettings> </config>

Step 2: Restart the snmp service. The startup methods for different ESXi versions are different.

VMware ESXi version 5.5.0 build-1623387

~ #/Etc/init. d/snmpd restart

~ #/Etc/init. d/snmpd status

Snmpd is running

~ #

VMware ESXi version 5.0.0 build-469512

Note: The following operations will restart all enabled services in/etc/services. We recommend that you operate in idle time. My restart operation takes about 10 seconds.

~ #/Etc/services. sh restart

Step 3: Test the configuration result on other machines

[[Email protected] ~] # Snmpwalk-c public-v 2c 192.168.1.55

Step 4: Add to monitoring
