Changing the order of rows and columns is an action that is often required in Excel, and most users do so by cutting the row or column you want to adjust, then selecting the target location, clicking the menu insert → cut cells. In fact, it is quicker to change the order of rows and columns by using the keyboard to match. For example, in the table shown in Figure 1, we are going to put column C data in front of column B. Step 2 Move the cursor over the black border to the right of column C, and hold down the SHIFT key to start dragging to the left. At this point, we can see a dashed line with a T-glyph on the left side of the cursor, shown in 2.
