Google trademark competition "BEIJING Google" was renamed

The trademark competition for the popular search engine Google (the Chinese name "Google") came to an end yesterday. Beijing Haidian District People's Court ruled that Beijing Google Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Beijing Google") constituted unfair competition and was sentenced to stop using the company name, the changed company name cannot contain the words "Google. At the same time, Beijing Google was ordered to compensate "Google China" for losses totaling 0.1 million yuan.

Google China is a wholly foreign-owned enterprise invested in China by Google Ireland Holdings, a subsidiary of Google. "Google China" sued Google for registering the name of a company named "Google" after the Chinese name of "Google" was published by Google, its behavior damages the legitimate rights and interests of Google and Google China. Therefore, the lawsuit requested the court to order "BEIJING Google" to stop trademark infringement and unfair competition, change its company name, and compensate for economic losses totaling more than 0.2 million yuan.

Yesterday, the court held that the use of company names by "BEIJING Google" violates laws and regulations and should be suspended. To avoid confusion and misunderstanding and maintain a sound economic and competitive order, "Beijing Google" should stop using its company name and apply for a name change from the relevant departments, the changed company name cannot contain the words "Google. At the same time, the loss caused by unfair competition to Google's China ordered "BEIJING Google" to compensate for a total of 0.1 million yuan in losses.

On June 23, December 26, 2007, "Beijing Google" sued "Google China" for "infringement of naming rights". The court ruled that Google did not constitute an infringement by rejecting its claim. Since then, "Google China" has taken "BEIJING Google" to court.
