Install Google PinYin Input Method in Ubuntu 10.04 as follows:
A. get the code: (install git first without git: sudo apt-get install git-core)
$ Git clone git: // github.com/tchaikov/scim-googlepinyin.git
$ Cd scim-googlepinyin
B. Prerequisites for compilation:
The above link describes how to compile the program, but introduces a few required components, which are listed below:
* Autotools-dev
* Libgtk2.0-dev
* Libscim-dev
* Libtool
* Automake
Run the following command to check whether the tool is installed. If not, it will automatically help you install the tool:
$ Aptitude install autotools-dev libgtk2.0-dev libscim-dev libtool automake
C. Compile:
Remember that the system must first have SCIM (if not, sudo apt-get install scim)
$./Autogen. sh
$ Make
$ Sudo make install
Restart scim now:
Disable scim: pkill scim
Then start: scim-d
Select scim as the default input method for "language-supported" Input Method in system management, and then log out.
