Install the wince6.0 development environment in Windows XP

Due to the needs of this paper, I barely understood how to compile wince6.0 and develop applications in Windows. The following describes (ensure that the C drive has enough space before installation! Around 20 GB! It is mainly because the installation program needs to be decompressed during the installation process ):

Before Visual Studio 2005, platform builder must be installed to develop the wince embedded program. However, platform builder has been integrated into Visual Studio 2005 as a plug-in.

Download and install Visual Studio 2005(Visual Studio 2008 only supports application development and cannot be used to customize the wince kernel ),We recommend that you install Windows XP. To reduce the trouble in the future, I chose to install it completely.

Download and install Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1(Note if Visual Studio 2005 is installed in the Chinese version, then here also select the Chinese version of Sp1, file name is: VS80sp1-KB926604-X86-CHS.exe, about 430 MB), during the hard disk lights flash! We recommend that you do not do other things, otherwise it will be very slow. The installation is completed in almost an hour.

Install Windows Embedded ce 6.0 evaluation EditionFrom the Microsoft official website downloading, there is only one setup.exe file, which is downloaded online. Install Windows Embedded ce 6.0 platform builder Service Pack 1It should be an MSI file, about 56 MB

After some hard work above, we finally installed the wince development environment. Below are all the files used for installation. A total of 4G installation files from the official website should be fully installed, disk C requires about 12 GB space. The pop-up warning message does not need to be ignored.

But let's talk about it. I didn't pass it during the first compilation, and the build under the wince installation directory. the log contains the following sentence: Error sysgen0000: Error (s) in sysgen phase. Then google generates a command in the menu --> advanced build commands --> clean sysgen, later, the compilation was successful.

After compilation, click target --> connectivity options in the menu to set the mode (Set Download, transport, and debugger)


Click Apply and close.


Click target --> attach devices in the menu. The wince interface will appear in the simulator in a few minutes:





Choose device emulator manager in the tool menu, right-click the Pocket PC 2003 se square VGA simulation program, and select connect to open the simulator of Pocket PC 2003:
