Important: If your scanner driver supports the Control Panel feature in OS X, pressing the scan button on the device may not start the scan process. However, you can use some application software to control the scanner.

　Before connecting to a scanner

Make sure that the scanner is plugged in and that no warnings are displayed on its control panel.

Connect scanner

You can connect a multiple kinetic energy printer or scanner by simply using a USB cable. If the multifunction printer uses an Ethernet or wireless network, make sure it is configured to use the same local network as the MAC. Next, choose Apple () > System Preferences ..., and then select Display > Print and Scan. Click the + (plus) icon under the Printers panel on the left and select the printer you want to add.

Note: Avoid installing the software that came with your scanner because it may be obsolete. OS X and software updates contain the latest version of the scanner software. In the future, after some updates are published, you can get these updates through software updates.
