Nautilus is the Shell and default file manager of GNOME Desktop. In version 2.22, I/O backend uses the latest GVfs, which greatly improves the performance. In the coming 2.24, Nautilus will improve the usability, including support for CompactView and label-Based Browsing. The former has been implemented a few months ago, label-Based browsing is also supported in another branch. I'm from http://svn.gnome.org/viewvc/nautilus/
