Before establishing a dormitory network, you need to know the networking types. Generally, the LAN topology can be divided into BUS-type BUS, star, ring, and other types.
Set up dormitory Network: Nic
Network adapters can be divided into AUI, BNC, and RJ45 connectors by connection type, they are used to connect three different network cables, namely, AUI cable, RG-58A/U wire pair [including unshielded UTP) and stranded twisted pair STP). Due to cabling troubles, AUI connectors and cables have been eliminated by the market. I will not elaborate on them.
Using BNC connector and RG-58A/u network cable to construct the network, not only low price, and the installation of the dormitory network is easy, so it is favored by the DIY family. RJ-45 connector is used to connect twisted pair wires, because it is easy to expand, easy to debug the system, it is also widely used.
NICs can be classified into PCI, EISA, PCI, and SISC in the form of bus. Currently, PCI interfaces are widely used for NICs. They can also be set to 10 Mb/s and 100 Mb/s based on the data transmission bandwidth, 10 M-100 M, M network adapter, currently used more than 10 M-M adaptive network adapter.
Dormitory Network: Network Type
Generally, the LAN topology can be divided into BUS-type BUS, star, and ring networks. The bus structure uses a shared network cable and usually uses a thin cable) to connect all computers. Its advantage is its low cost and simple wiring, but one fatal drawback is that any node in the entire network is faulty and the entire network is paralyzed.
This topology is gradually eliminated. Less than 10 computers are suitable for bus-type networking. More than 10 computers are difficult to maintain and are prone to faults. A star is used by all computers to connect to a hub, a switch, or a router.
Its advantage is that local network line faults only affect local areas, and the entire network is not paralyzed and easy to maintain. The disadvantage is that the cost is high (relatively speaking ). From the above content, we can see that the bus type does not need a hub, and the star must have at least one hub to make the network run, thus increasing the cost of this part.
Star-type networking is popular among the networking types of dormitory networks. It is suitable for the networking of any computer. The ring structure is only adopted by IBM, and is rarely used at present. I think it is not a future trend.
